What is an Endodontist
An Endodontists is a dentist who completed an additional ?three years of training beyond dental school. Only less than three percent of dentists are endodontists and specialize in root canal therapies. ?Endodontists are a valuable member of your dentist?s team of trusted caregivers.
Why do we need Root Canal Treatments?
Even with proper brushing and flossing habits, and regular checkups, you can have problem with your teeth and gums. Tooth pain, injury, increased sensitivity to hot or cold and oral or facial swelling are? some of the signs of potential dental problems which may lead to Irreversible Pulpitis Or Necrotic Pulp .
Irreversible pulpitis involves vital inflamed pulp that is incapable of healing and thermal stimulus, lingering pain? (often? 30? seconds? or? longer? after? stimulus? that root canal treatment is indicated. Symptoms may include sharp pain upon removal),? spontaneity? (unprovoked? pain)? and? referred? pain.
The main treatment for irreversible pulpitis is to perform root canal therapy to help relieve the symptoms and inflammation. We will take an image of the tooth and evaluate the root and bones for signs of disease.
Necrotic Pulp is a dead or non- vital tooth pulp that has no blood supply and no longer has any living tissue in it. When a necrotic pulp occurs in a person, the inside the affected tooth becomes a potential site for the bacterial colonization open to the inside of the body.? The doctor may elect to perform treatment of a necrotic pulp in two visits. The first visit would be to clean and shape the canals and filling up the access cavity with a biocompatible antiseptic irrigant, like sodium hypochlorite to reduce the presence of bacteria. At the second visit, the doctor will remove the antiseptic and complete the root canal treatment.
